History

This remarkable 1,800-year-old redwood tree, felled in the early 1910s, with a diameter of over 17 feet and an estimated height of 300+ feet. It was cut down at a time when chainsaws were in their infancy, and the tree was likely felled using axes or early mechanical tools. The tree's massive size and age make it an extraordinary piece of natural history, and we've been granted permission by the county to carefully cut and distribute parts of the tree. We have with us a certificate of authenticity, verifying its origin and historical significance.

This tree was so massive at the time that those who cut it down were unsure of what to do with it. Its immense size was beyond what could be easily handled or processed. For many years, the tree remained untouched, a testament to nature’s grandeur. In the 1960s, the land where the tree once stood suffered a devastating fire, yet the remnants of the tree—now aged and weathered—survived. The tree’s remarkable resilience was on full display, as its wood withstood the intense heat of the blaze. We are proud to offer a piece of this legendary redwood, which still bears burn marks on some of the bark, highlighting its incredible resistance to fire and termites.

Each piece purchased comes with a certificate of authenticity, ensuring its origin and rarity. By purchasing a piece, you’re not only acquiring a part of an ancient and resilient tree but also a connection to a unique moment in natural history. Offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a piece of living history.
